Around Berlin in the rain

The next two days had awfully wet weather, so I didn't take a great many photos, even though I did go sight-seeing.

Wednesday, my aunt and I headed off towards Schoenhausen Palace. The train journey was unusually arduous with the company we had (a drunk who was smoking and drinking and playing loud music, topped off by spitting) and the fact that the 30 minute train trip took nearly an hour longer - with the aforementioned company.

But everything does come to an end and since we had to change trains in Hackesche Markt in Berlin, we stopped to have a look at the Hackesche Hoefe (Courtyards). You can see how wet it was:

You can reach the Rosenhof (Roses Courtyard) from there too. It had a different sort of atmosphere:

We had a bite to eat at an Italian restaurant across the road, but it was very salty - too salty for my aunt, so she went mostly hungry. It was a good deal at 5.90 Euro for a 33cm pizza with any topping you like (including prawns!).

After lunch we headed off to Schoenhausen Palace with the tram. It was a bit of an adventure since we didn't know where to catch it from and the destination on it was different to what I'd read on the 'net, but we did get there in the end! We had to ask directions at Pankow since I couldn't tell from google maps where the tram would stop. The park at the palace is really beautiful and well maintained, but it was so wet we didn't really do much walking around:

We walked through the palace (only with a guided tour) - it's only small and the tour was nice. But no photos unless you pay 3 Euro on top of the 6 Euro admission, which it really wasn't worth and I'm glad I didn't bother.

After this, we stopped off for coffee in Pankow before heading back home.
